Privacy Policy

The short version: Focal never uploads your audio. To give feedback it sends a short list of measurements about your mix (like loudness and how much bass there is) to our server. We keep your email, your plan and a record of which mix issues came up, so habit coaching works. We don't sell your data or show you ads.

Who we are

Locke Sonics makes Focal, a plugin that gives mixing feedback. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Locke Sonics. You can reach us at support@lockesonics.com.

What we collect

Your account. Your email address, the license key we generate for you, your plan (Free or Pro) and how many analyses you've used this month.
Mix measurements. When you ask Focal for feedback, it sends numbers it measured from your master channel: frequency balance, loudness, peak level, dynamics, stereo width, tempo and the genre you picked. It also sends the measurements of a reference track if you use reference mode. It never sends the audio itself.
Issue history. For each analysis we store which issues were found (for example “muddy low end”), the genre, and a random ID for the project, so Focal can spot habits that repeat across your songs. We don't store song names or file names.
Payments. If you buy Pro, Stripe handles your payment. We receive a customer ID and subscription status from Stripe, never your full card number.
Website. This website doesn't use tracking cookies or analytics. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (like IP address and pages requested) for security.

How we use it

To run Focal: check your license, count your analyses and write your feedback.
To coach you over time, using your issue history.
To handle Pro subscriptions, receipts and refunds.
To answer you when you contact us, and to send important notices about your account. We won't send marketing emails unless you ask for them.

Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent your personal information. We only share what's needed with the services that help us run Focal:

Anthropic, which provides the AI model that turns your mix measurements into plain English feedback. It receives the measurements, not your email or your audio.
Stripe, for payments.
Render, which hosts our server and database.
Our website host, which serves this site.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect Focal and its users from fraud or abuse.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and issue history while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it and your issue history within 30 days. Stripe keeps payment records as financial laws require.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing support@lockesonics.com from the address on your account. Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK or California), you may have additional rights under local law, and we'll honor them.

Security

Connections between Focal, this site and our server are encrypted. Your license key works like a password: don't share it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

Focal isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell you by email or in Focal before it takes effect.
